The holiday has started again and many drone racers are traveling again by plane to find the most beautiful race and freestyle spots in the world! Bringing a drone in the plane gives you some obstacles, especially with batteries and LiPo's, but these can be taken well if you make some preparation. Here are some tips that make traveling with your FPV drone more pleasant! Tip 1: It's all in the name The word drone generally has a bad taste and is unfortunately the same for most people. That's why your race drone is called during your Holiday Toy Helicopter instead of Race drone, drone or mini quad. Tip 2: Nothing to hide Whatever you do you have nothing to hide (whatever that is!). Example; When you bring your race drone (Oh no! Toy helicopter) in your hand luggage, take it out of your backpack / bag or mount it on it. So that the security at the airport can see this directly, instead of seeing a weird thing through the X-ray on their image. Security guards are suspicious, that's their job, so you can expect questions about your Toy helicopter, and explain to them openly and honestly what it is. Tip 3: Remove your propellers It may be that security asks you to turn on the drone, it saves a lot of time if you have already removed the propellers. The sharp props can not injure anyone. Tip 4: How many LiPos can you take with you? LiPo's for mini quads are fortunately small and you can take a lot of them (check in advance with your airline how much you can take maximum). Some airlines have rules that say how many Watt-hours (total capacity mAh x voltage) you can bring to board. Before you go to the airport, do the following:
Tip 5: Keep important matters separate Make sure you do not put your important things such as passport and tickets in the bag where your LiPo's and mini-quad are, should they be taken. Tip 6: Tools - No knives and scissors! It is forbidden to bring sharp items on board , think of knives, scissors, cutters (anything you could use as a weapon). Use your common sense and check here the rules of your airline. Tip 7: Be nice and polite If a security guard does not work, stay calm and polite, this can ensure that your mini-quad is not taken off! The security guards do their work and have to take care of a safe journey, respect their work, even if they unexpectedly take your mini-quad! (which almost never happens!)
